Spruce Mortgage Team Fundraises with Airport Table Tennis Tournament

The Spruce Mortgage team hosted its first Table Tennis Tournament at Burlington International Airport (Burlington, VT) on Sunday, February 8 and plans a bigger one on Saturday-Sunday, May 2-3.Proceeds benefit SLAMDiabetes and its 5th Annual Vermont Summer Classic.

On February 8, contestants paid $25 in the single elimination tourney. Tim Aikey paddled his way to First Place and Paul Carney was runner-up. Paul is a dad of a T1Der and co-captain of the Purple Pumpers wiffle ball team. Great to see teams helping each other in fundraising!

Julie Richards, manager of the always competitive Spruce Mortgage team, said the tournament raised $300 and that the team hopes to raise $1,000 in May.

“Table Tennis is another one of those games everyone loves, like WIFFLE ball. And to have the opportunity to hold it at the airport to spread awareness about T1D makes it that much better.”

Julie said she plans to hold a “Professionals” Bracket on May 2 and Amateurs Bracket on May 3.
